Carlitos Caribbean Sports Bar & Grill is a Palm Beach institution for visitors who want big flavours, cold drinks, and a genuinely lively atmosphere without the fine-dining price tag. Located at J.E. Irausquin Blvd 87 in Noord, on the beachfront boardwalk at Playa Linda Beach Resort, it’s the kind of place that keeps you coming back.

The menu flags its own bestsellers — the whole fried Island Style Red Snapper carries its “Local Favorite” star and the Tropical Mango Ceviche its “Customer Favorite” — and the happy hour is the single most-mentioned thing in the bar’s Google reviews. The service is warm, the portions are generous, and the atmosphere rewards those who stay for another round.

What to Order at Carlitos

The menu marks its own winners. The Island Style Red Snapper — a whole fresh Caribbean snapper, fried and served with fries and lime for $29 — carries the “Local Favorite” star, and the Tropical Mango Ceviche ($18, fresh fish in passion fruit and mango with lime, cilantro and red onion) the “Customer Favorite”. On the grill side, the Carlitos Signature Burger ($20) is the menu’s flagged “Beach favorite”, and the Caribbean Burger ($20) stacks Angus beef with bacon, caramelized onions and BBQ sauce.

On the cheaper side, the Chicken Quesadilla is $15, the two ceviches run $16–$18, and the Caesar salad is $11. The cocktail card runs from an Aruba Ariba to a frozen Beso Frances, and reviewers call the happy hour the way to go. They also note the kitchen runs dishes that are not printed on the menu, so ask about the day’s specials.

The Atmosphere

The room is open-air under a wooden roof on the boardwalk inside Playa Linda Beach Resort — the beachfront setting is the most-praised point in its Google reviews — decorated with license plates and fan jerseys. It works for couples, groups, and families equally. The sports bar element means big screens for major events, but it never tips into being a venue that neglects the food in favour of the spectacle.

The cocktail card lists its house drinks by name — Aruba Ariba, Pain Killer, Mojito, Tropical Dream, a frozen Beso Frances — without printed prices. The happy hour is real and much loved (sixteen Google reviews mention it) but its times and prices are not published anywhere online — ask when you sit down.

Our verdict

Order what the menu itself points at: the $29 whole fried snapper is the kitchen’s flag dish and the $18 mango ceviche its crowd-pleaser. The cheapest real feed is the $15 chicken quesadilla or the $14 loaded fries, and nothing on the food menu tops $29 — cheap for this stretch of Palm Beach.

Come for a game. The $39 Game Day combo — five beers, six wings, two sliders — is the best group deal in print; one person in a recent group of twelve ordered exactly that for the match. Google diners put typical spend at AWG 20–40 a head (about $11–$22 at the fixed 1.79 peg), which says most people treat Carlitos as a long drinks-and-bar-food session rather than a formal dinner.

Be clear-eyed about the score: 4.2 across 212 Google reviews. The beachfront boardwalk setting and the happy hour carry it, and service gets mixed notes when the bar is full. It opens at 10:30 am daily (9:00 am on Sundays) and runs to between 10:00 pm and 11:45 pm depending on the night, so it covers lunch, sunset and the late game.
