About Old Man and the Sea
The view over the water is spectacular. The atmosphere is completely relaxed. It is the restaurant at Aruba Ocean Villas, and it is priced accordingly — dinner mains sit at fine-dining level, so treat it as a special-occasion meal rather than a cheap local find. The food reflects the fishing village it inhabits: fresh, simple, and very good.
What to Order at Old Man and the Sea
The fresh catch of the day ($50, served with Spanish risotto and creole sauce) is the centrepiece, and the lobster à la vodka ($50) is the dish the menu itself calls famous. For something local, the keshi yena starter ($25) is the classic Aruban comfort dish, and the fish and shrimp ceviche ($28) comes with plantain chips.

Our verdict
Do not let the fishing-village setting set your budget: dinner here is special-occasion money. Mains run $41 to $75, the signature lobster à la vodka is $50, and the land & sea climbs to $105 with a lobster tail — a starter, a main and a cake works out around $90 a head before drinks. What you are paying for is the water under your table: the villas call it the only private overwater-cabana dining in Aruba.
The value plays are real, though. Lunch is half the price — a $13 quesadilla, burgers at $21–$26, and the $55 seafood special feeds two. Breakfast starts at $11, and there is a proper vegan menu at $31–$33, which is rare on this side of the island. Book dinner ahead and take it seriously: a credit card holds the table, and cancelling inside 48 hours can cost up to $100.
Tips for Your Visit
Worth the 20-minute drive from Palm Beach. Go for lunch or an early dinner. However, arrive before 12:30pm to beat the lunch crowd. Pairing a visit with a stop at Zeerovers next door makes for an excellent afternoon.
