Best Aruba Family Resorts by Age of Your Kids

The right family resort in Aruba depends less on star rating than on how old your children are. Toddlers need shallow water and a short walk from room to pool; eight-year-olds need slides and a kids’ club; teenagers need somewhere to walk to. Here is how the island’s family-friendly hotels sort out.

Toddlers and under-5s: calm water and short distances

Eagle Beach is the answer for the youngest travellers — the water is shallow, the waves are minimal and the beach is wide enough that you are never crowded. Costa Linda Beach Resort (two- and three-bedroom suites, full kitchens, directly on the sand) and La Cabana Beach Resort (kitchenettes, kids’ pool, across the road) are the two to look at first. Both let you do naps and early dinners in the room, which with small children matters more than any amenity. Paradise Beach Villas is the quieter, cheaper alternative on the same stretch.

Ages 5–12: slides, kids’ clubs and a lazy river

This is Palm Beach’s strength. Holiday Inn Resort Aruba has the island’s best-value water-play area (slides, lazy river, splash zone) and a kids-eat-free deal, and is usually $150 a night cheaper than the resorts either side of it. Hyatt Regency Aruba steps it up with a multi-level pool complex, a water slide, Camp Hyatt and a lagoon with flamingos and black swans on the grounds. Riu Palace Aruba is the all-inclusive option for this age group — kids’ club, pools with a swim-up bar for the adults, and no arguments about who ordered what at dinner. Teenagers: space, independence and things within walking distance

Teens want their own room, a beach with water sports launching every few minutes and somewhere to walk in the evening. Marriott’s Aruba Surf Club and Marriott’s Aruba Ocean Club deliver two-bedroom villas with kitchens on Palm Beach, with the whole strip’s restaurants, ice-cream and parasailing a short walk away. Playa Linda Beach Resort is the stepped, pyramid-shaped timeshare-style resort next door with big suites and a central Palm Beach location at a lower rate.

Big groups and multi-generational trips: villas and condos

For grandparents, parents and kids together, apartment-style resorts beat hotel rooms every time. Divi Village Golf & Beach Resort (one- and two-bedroom villas, three pools, a nine-hole golf course, beach across the road on Druif Beach) and Caribbean Palm Village in Noord (spacious two-bedroom units, two pools, free parking, five minutes’ drive to Palm Beach) both work out far cheaper per person than two or three hotel rooms, and give everyone a kitchen and a door to close.

Family Resort Booking Tips for Aruba

Book by early autumn for Christmas, February break and Easter — family suites are the first category to sell out island-wide. Ask for a ground-floor or pool-view room if you have small children, and confirm whether the “kids stay free” offer includes breakfast. Aruba’s tap water is safe to drink, the island is outside the hurricane belt, and it is a US-dollar economy, which removes most of the usual travel-with-kids friction. Finally, budget for a couple of family-friendly outings off the resort: the glass bottom boat, the UTV tour to the Natural Pool for older kids, and a catamaran snorkel sail are the three that families rate highest.

Best Family Activities in Aruba

Beyond the beach and pool, Aruba offers excellent family activities: the Atlantis submarine (no swimming required, great for all ages), snorkelling tours at Boca Catalina (calm and shallow water), the Natural Pool jeep safari (adventurous and memorable), and Baby Beach in the south (the calmest, shallowest water on the island, perfect for toddlers). The Aruba Butterfly Farm near Palm Beach is also popular with younger children.

Frequently asked questions

Where is the best area to stay in Aruba?

Palm Beach suits people who want restaurants, nightlife and the high-rise resorts within walking distance. Eagle Beach is quieter and low-rise with a wider beach. Oranjestad puts you near the cruise port and the capital.

When are Aruba hotel rates lowest?

Rates drop from May through early December, often well below the January to April peak. That period also brings the calmest seas and the smallest crowds.

Are Aruba hotels all-inclusive?

Only some of them. Aruba has fewer all-inclusive properties than neighbouring islands because its restaurant scene is strong, so many visitors deliberately book room-only and eat out.

Can I cancel a hotel booking?

Most Aruba properties offer free cancellation on standard rates, usually up to a few days before arrival. Compare the flexible rate against the prepaid one before you commit.
