Palm Beach vs Eagle Beach: Which to Choose?

Palm Beach is livelier, louder and more convenient — restaurants, shops and water sports are all steps away. Eagle Beach (15 minutes south) is wider, quieter and less developed — better for couples wanting tranquillity. Families and groups who want convenience and nightlife nearby should choose Palm Beach. Couples prioritising a peaceful beach experience should choose Eagle Beach.

Palm Beach Hotels Compared: Quick Verdicts

Every property below sits on — or a short walk from — the same two-mile stretch of sand, so the brochures all show the same turquoise water and the same palapas. What actually separates them is who they are built for. Here is the honest version: who each hotel suits, and the reason you might skip it. For 2026 prices, use the live-rate tiers further down this page.

Ritz-Carlton Aruba — the service benchmark

The most polished service on the island, and the beach with the most breathing room, because the far-north position keeps walk-through crowds away. The trade-off is exactly that position: the Palm Beach restaurant strip is a long walk or a short ride away, and you pay the island’s top rates for everything, extras included.

Hyatt Regency — the pool your kids would design

The multi-level pool complex with its water slide is the best on Palm Beach, and Camp Hyatt buys parents real time off. Couples like it too — but nobody comes here for tranquillity. The pool scene is the point, and the centre-strip location is the island at full volume.

Aruba Marriott & Stellaris — for casino nights

The island’s most popular casino downstairs, an adults-only pool upstairs, and the consistency Bonvoy regulars expect. It is also one of the biggest operations on the beach, so peak weeks mean early sunbed claims and lively common areas. If you want a resort that hums, this is it; if that sentence tired you, look north to the Ritz or south to the Hilton.

Hilton Aruba — gardens over glitz

The best grounds on Palm Beach — mature palm gardens instead of concrete pool decks — and a calmer pace at the strip’s southern end. It is an older property renovated in waves, so it charms rather than dazzles; if you need everything box-fresh, aim elsewhere.

Marriott’s Surf Club and Ocean Club — the family workhorses

Villa-style units with kitchens and laundry on the same excellent sand as the flagship Marriott. The Surf Club’s units are newer and bigger; the Ocean Club is easier to book. Both are vacation-ownership properties, so they behave like residences — reserve far ahead and do not expect the full daily-hotel treatment.

Riu Palace Aruba — family all-inclusive, done big

The family all-inclusive on prime mid-strip sand: nobody ever asks for the bill, and the pools run lively from morning to night. The honest caveat applies to every buffet-led all-inclusive — over a full week the dining repeats itself. Our all-inclusive guide runs the maths on whether the package pays for how you actually eat and drink.

Riu Palace Antillas — the adults-only answer

Same all-inclusive model next door, without the kids’ volume. It sits where the strip is busiest, so it is adults-only rather than quiet — and if you will not use the package hard, a room-only hotel plus Palm Beach’s restaurants is usually better value.

Barceló Aruba — the value all-inclusive

Usually the sharpest all-inclusive price on Palm Beach, which is exactly why its pool decks fill first in high season. Go in with festival expectations — plenty of everything, queues at peak hours — and it delivers.

Holiday Inn Resort — the budget beachfront

The cheapest way to sleep on Palm Beach itself and the family favourite for it: 600 rooms, water-play areas, and every dollar saved is a dollar for tours. Parts of it are dated and none of it is intimate — you are paying for the sand, not the styling.

Playa Linda — settle in like a local

Apartment-style suites with real kitchens and some of the biggest balconies on the beach, right in the centre of the strip. It runs on timeshare rhythms: book early, expect friendly but thinner hotel services, and unpack properly.

Divi Aruba Phoenix — the quiet southern tip

The southern tip is Palm Beach’s calm corner, and the Phoenix’s tower suites (many with kitchens) face noticeably quieter sand. The mid-strip action is a pleasant beach walk away — fine as a stroll, annoying as a nightly commute.

Across the road: Embassy Suites and Courtyard

Embassy Suites and the Courtyard by Marriott sit on the inland side of the boulevard: no beachfront, meaningfully lower rates. Embassy’s two-room suites with cooked breakfast are the family value play; the Courtyard is the simplest, cheapest way to stay near Palm Beach. The sand itself is public, so you swim in the same sea — minus the sunbed service.

How to choose in 60 seconds

  • Money no object: Ritz-Carlton.
  • Best pool complex for kids: Hyatt Regency; same idea on a budget, Holiday Inn.
  • All-inclusive with kids: Riu Palace Aruba or Barceló; without kids: Riu Palace Antillas.
  • A kitchen and room to spread out: Marriott’s Surf Club or Playa Linda.
  • Casino until late: Aruba Marriott & Stellaris.
  • Quietest sand: Ritz-Carlton in the north or Divi Phoenix in the south.
  • Happy to cross the road to save: Embassy Suites — then spend the difference on a day on the water.

Not sure Palm Beach is even your beach? Eagle Beach’s hotels trade the action for the island’s most beautiful sand ten minutes south, and our best-area-to-stay guide settles the question in five minutes.

Palm Beach Aruba: Detailed Location Guide

Palm Beach is a 2.5km strip of white sand running north from the Holiday Inn to the Ritz-Carlton at the northern end. The main road (J.E. Irausquin Boulevard) runs parallel to the beach with hotels on both sides — beach-side rooms face west over the Caribbean, land-side rooms face east over the road and residential areas. The central and northern sections of Palm Beach are the most developed — highest concentration of restaurants, bars, watersports operators and shops. The southern end of Palm Beach transitions into the quieter Eagle Beach area, where the vibe changes from resort-strip to boutique-hotel.

Palm Beach Hotel Booking Tips 2026

Book directly with the hotel or through Agoda/Expedia rather than through local agencies — online rates are almost always lower. Always request ocean-facing rooms explicitly when booking — interior-facing rooms can be significantly cheaper but lose the key view. December-April prices run 40-60% higher than May-November at every property. The sweet spot is late April through early June — prices drop sharply but weather is still excellent. Avoid checking in on Saturdays — busy changeover day, rooms may not be ready until late afternoon.

Frequently asked questions

Where is the best area to stay in Aruba?

Palm Beach suits people who want restaurants, nightlife and the high-rise resorts within walking distance. Eagle Beach is quieter and low-rise with a wider beach. Oranjestad puts you near the cruise port and the capital.

When are Aruba hotel rates lowest?

Rates drop from May through early December, often well below the January to April peak. That period also brings the calmest seas and the smallest crowds.

Are Aruba hotels all-inclusive?

Only some of them. Aruba has fewer all-inclusive properties than neighbouring islands because its restaurant scene is strong, so many visitors deliberately book room-only and eat out.

Can I cancel a hotel booking?

Most Aruba properties offer free cancellation on standard rates, usually up to a few days before arrival. Compare the flexible rate against the prepaid one before you commit.
