Tia Rosa Snack is the kind of authentic local spot that feels like Aruba’s best-kept secret — a humble Savaneta storefront serving what reviewers call the best arepas and patacones on the island. Locals queue alongside in-the-know visitors for breakfast and dinner; the empanadas might be the best you’ve ever tasted.

About Tia Rosa Snack
Tia Rosa is a no-frills snack-style restaurant (snack is the local term for casual takeaway-style spots) in Savaneta, opening at 6am for the working breakfast crowd and again from 6pm in the evening. There’s no English-only menu and the décor is utility-functional, but the food quality is exceptional and prices are genuinely inexpensive — typically the cheapest hot meal on the island per dollar.
Signature Dishes & Menu Highlights
Order the meat patacón (smashed fried plantain layered with grilled meat, cheese, and toppings) — it’s the signature dish multiple reviewers describe as ‘amazing flavor.’ The arepas (corn-flour pockets stuffed with meat, cheese, ham, and egg) are crispy outside, soft inside, and substantial enough that one keeps you going until dinner. The empanadas are repeatedly called the best in Aruba.
