The Dutch Pancakehouse opened at Renaissance Marketplace in May 2003 — Aruba’s original 75+ pancake menu, winner of Aruba’s first “Best Breakfast in Aruba” award, and still the standard against which every other Dutch pancake spot on the island is measured. Family-friendly, all-day breakfast, traditional pannenkoeken and poffertjes, sweet and savory options, with gluten-free, vegan, and dairy-free preparations available. Open daily 8 AM to 9 PM. Located across from the Royal Plaza Mall on the waterfront.

About The Dutch Pancakehouse

The Dutch Pancakehouse opened in May 2003 at Renaissance Marketplace, downtown Oranjestad — bringing authentic Dutch pannenkoeken culture to Aruba over 22 years ago. They proudly received Aruba’s first “Best Breakfast in Aruba” award and have been serving record numbers of locals and tourists ever since.

The restaurant is family-run and family-friendly. Located at L.G. Smith Blvd 9 at Renaissance Marketplace, with outdoor seating overlooking the Oranjestad waterfront and oversized plaza. Live performances on the plaza in front of the restaurant on weekend nights add to the festive vibe. Steps from the cruise port — making it a popular cruise-day stop. Free parking nearby. Recently renovated.

What’s unique compared to other pancake spots on the island: 75+ kinds of pancakes (vs Linda’s 40+), all-day pancake service (you can have pancakes for dinner), and full secondary menu with schnitzels, eggs, and dinner items for non-pancake eaters in your group.

What guests are saying

Reviews praise the extensive 75+ pancake menu, the family-friendly waterfront atmosphere, the generous portions at reasonable prices, and the poffertjes. Repeat guests note this as their go-to morning stop on Oranjestad days. The Shanghai pancake and Farmer’s Schnitzel are the two most-recommended dishes for first-timers. Long lines at peak breakfast (5-10 minute wait) are normal.

Honest caveats: service quality varies by visit — some recent reviews flagged forgotten orders or rushed staff during busy times; menu is heavily pancake-focused — those who don’t want pancakes have limited choices; schnitzels can be hit-or-miss per recent reviews; can get loud with families and live music on plaza nights. For pancakes, this is the original gold standard in Oranjestad.
