The Renaissance Aruba private island — accessible only by the hotel’s ferry boats — is one of the most exclusive beach experiences in the Caribbean. Home to the famous free-roaming flamingos and two private beaches, it’s one of the most Instagrammed destinations in all of Aruba.
How to Access Renaissance Private Island Aruba
As a hotel guest: Guests at the Renaissance Ocean Suites or Renaissance Marina Hotel receive unlimited complimentary ferry access to the island throughout their stay. The ferry runs continuously from the hotel marina. This is by far the best way to experience the island — you can come and go throughout the day. Room rates from $350/night.
As a day visitor (non-guest): Day passes can be purchased at the Renaissance Marina Hotel lobby. They cost approximately $125-150 per person (weekday/weekend pricing) and include the ferry crossing and full beach access. Day passes are extremely limited. They are released online at renaissancearuba.idaypass.com every Saturday at 9am for the upcoming Monday–Sunday and sell out quickly. Availability also depends on hotel occupancy (typically only released when occupancy is below 80%). Sell-out by 9am is common during peak season.
What’s on Renaissance Private Island?
The island has two beaches. The adult-only flamingo beach is where the famous pink flamingos roam freely. A family beach on the other side of the island has calmer water and is open to children. The island has a restaurant, beach bar, watersports rental, snorkelling (good reef on the ocean side) and sunbed rental. The flamingos are genuinely free-roaming and will approach sunbeds — they particularly investigate food bags and colourful items.
Is the Renaissance Private Island Worth It?
For hotel guests — absolutely. For day visitors paying $125-150 — it depends. The flamingo experience is genuinely unique and memorable, but the beaches, while nice, are not significantly better than Eagle Beach or Arashi. If seeing the flamingos is on your bucket list, it is worth it. If you are primarily after the best beach experience, your time and money are better spent at Eagle Beach with a tour booked for the afternoon.

Renaissance Aruba Private Island: Full 2026 Guide
Renaissance Island is the most exclusive and most Instagrammed experience in Aruba — a private island accessible only by ferry, home to free-roaming flamingos and two pristine Caribbean beaches. The island covers approximately 40 acres and sits 500 metres offshore from the Renaissance Marina Hotel in central Oranjestad. The flamingo beach (adults-only) and family beach are separated by a 5-minute walk through tropical gardens.
How to Access Renaissance Aruba Private Island
Option 1 — Hotel guest access (recommended): Guests staying at either the Renaissance Ocean Suites or Renaissance Marina Hotel receive complimentary unlimited ferry access for the duration of their stay. Ferries depart every 20-30 minutes from the hotel marina from 7am-6pm. There are no crowds at the dock for hotel guests — you simply show your room key and board. This is by far the best way to experience the island as you can visit in the morning when flamingos are most active, return for lunch, and go back for sunset without any additional cost.
Option 2 — Non-guest day pass: Released online at renaissancearuba.idaypass.com every Saturday at 9am for the following Monday–Sunday, in multiple tiers starting around $90/adult (standard) up to $150 (premium). The allocation is strictly limited and sells out fast — many passes go within minutes of release. Set a reminder and check the site at the release time by 7:15am if purchasing on a weekend in peak season — passes often sell out within 30 minutes of opening. No online booking, no phone reservations, no exceptions. If you miss the day passes, you cannot access the island that day as a non-guest.
What’s on Renaissance Island
Flamingo beach (adults 18+ only): The main attraction. A 200-metre stretch of white sand with 4-6 Caribbean flamingos that roam freely. Sunbed rental: $30-40 per day (not included in day pass or hotel stay). Beach bar with cocktails, beer and snacks. Shallow, calm water ideal for swimming. Snorkelling on the reef directly off this beach is excellent. Photography of flamingos is easiest before 11am when they are most active and haven’t retreated to shade.
Family beach: Larger beach with calmer, shallower water. Children welcome. Full restaurant with hot food, not just snacks. Water sports rental including paddleboards and kayaks. The snorkelling here is less impressive than the flamingo beach side but safer for younger swimmers.
Iguana Beach restaurant: A proper sit-down restaurant on the island serving lunch daily. Fresh seafood, burgers, salads and Caribbean dishes. Prices are resort-level ($25-45 for mains) but the setting — eating on a private island surrounded by flamingos and the Caribbean — is exceptional. Reservations recommended for lunch in peak season.

Is Renaissance Island Worth the Day Pass Price?
At $125-150 per person plus $30-40 for sunbeds plus food and drinks, a full day on Renaissance Island can cost $200+ per person. For that budget, you could stay one night at the Renaissance Marina Hotel (from $280/night for two people, including unlimited island access) — which makes the hotel stay surprisingly competitive for couples. For a solo visitor or for families with multiple children, the day pass is the only realistic option. The flamingo experience is genuinely unique and worth it if it’s on your bucket list. If your primary goal is a beautiful beach rather than flamingos, Eagle Beach offers a comparable beach experience for free.
Booking the Renaissance Aruba Hotel for Island Access
The Renaissance Aruba Resort operates two hotels: the Marina Hotel (city-side, no beach) and the Ocean Suites (oceanfront). Both include the same private island access. The Marina Hotel is typically $50-100/night cheaper than the Ocean Suites. For island access purposes, either works perfectly. If a beachfront room matters to you, book the Ocean Suites. If you mainly want the private island and flamingos, save money with the Marina Hotel and spend your beach time on the private island.
