Mangrove Cafe is a small coffee shop on Spaans Lagoenweg in Savaneta, right beside Mangel Halto, the mangrove-fringed snorkelling beach on the south coast. It has a 4.9-star Google rating from its first reviews, and it fills a gap: there is almost nowhere else on that stretch to sit down with a proper coffee after a swim.

About Mangrove Cafe
It opens 10am to 4pm on weekdays, until 3:30pm on Saturday and 3pm on Sunday, and serves breakfast and lunch alongside the coffee. Reviewers single out the locally roasted coffee, one calling it the best they had on the island, and a fresh passion fruit lemonade that gets mentioned in nearly every review. The outdoor seating is the reason to linger. The owner, Adrian, is named repeatedly for the welcome, and the place is fine with children.
What reviewers mention
Good espresso, the lemonade, a relaxed outdoor terrace a minute from the beach, and a hospitable owner. Go after snorkelling at Mangel Halto rather than before.
Getting there
Mangrove Cafe is at Spaans Lagoenweg 4 in Savaneta, next to Mangel Halto beach, about 15 minutes from Oranjestad along the south coast road. If you are staying on the hotel strip, a rental car is the easiest way to reach it and everything else on this side of the island; taxis add up fast at night.
