Geography · Aruba
Aruba is a small Dutch Caribbean island sitting 15 miles north of Venezuela — far south of the main hurricane belt and in the sunniest, driest part of the Caribbean.
Aruba is located in the southern Caribbean Sea at approximately 12°N latitude, about 15 miles (25km) north of the Paraguaná Peninsula in Venezuela. It is part of the ABC islands (Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao), a group of Dutch Caribbean islands known for their position outside the main Atlantic hurricane belt and their exceptional weather.
Politically, Aruba is a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands — self-governing in most respects but with Dutch as an official language and the Netherlands responsible for defence and foreign affairs. It is not part of the EU.
