San Nicolas was Aruba’s oil-refinery boomtown for most of the 20th century, and Charlie’s Bar was the watering hole where refinery workers, sailors, and traveling merchants left mementos before heading back out. Eight decades later the walls are an archaeological record — military patches, sports jerseys, foreign currency, hard hats from every continent — and the place has earned permanent fixture status on every must-visit Aruba list.
