🏊 Southern Aruba · Lagoon Beach
A circular coral reef at the southern tip of the island creates a calm, shallow lagoon with water so clear it barely looks real. Baby Beach is Aruba’s most unique swimming spot.
Baby Beach is a natural lagoon at the very southern tip of Aruba, formed where a circular coral reef creates a sheltered swimming area of extraordinary calm. While the Atlantic Ocean crashes on the rocks just metres away, the water inside the lagoon barely moves — warm, clear, and rarely more than chest-deep even 50 metres from shore.
The result is one of the most accessible swimming spots in the Caribbean. No currents. No waves. Water temperature year-round around 80°F (27°C). Excellent snorkelling directly off the beach without a tour or any equipment rental.
Baby Beach has some of Aruba’s most accessible shore snorkelling. The coral reef that forms the lagoon is home to parrotfish, angelfish, sergeant majors, and with some luck, sea turtles. Visibility is consistently good — the sheltered water stays clear even when conditions elsewhere on the island are rough.
Bring your own mask and fins for the best experience. The rental shops in Palm Beach (20 minutes away) can set you up for around $15. You can also join a guided catamaran snorkel tour that stops at Baby Beach and the Antilla shipwreck on the same trip.
Baby Beach is located in San Nicolas, at the southeastern tip of Aruba — about 30 minutes by car from Palm Beach. The drive south through Aruba’s industrial oil refinery area looks uninviting until you arrive and realise it was worth every minute.
By rental car: The most flexible option. Drive south on the main road through San Nicolas and follow signs to Baby Beach (Seroe Colorado). Free parking available at the beach.
By jeep safari: The most popular way to visit Baby Beach is as part of a full-day Natural Pool jeep safari. These tours start in Palm Beach, visit the Natural Pool (Conchi) in the northeast, then drive south to Baby Beach before returning. Lunch and drinks included on most operators.
